AR coating with antibacterial function

This is an antibacterial AR coaing product that has multi-AR coating functions and antibacterial properties to glass substrates and resin substrates, they can be used for medical devices, touch panels for example. Antibacterial properties can suppress the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
*Even if AF coat is applied to the final layer, the antibacterial performance will be equivalent to antibacterial AR coat.

Exam outline

  • Test bacteria: 2 types of bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli            
  • Bacterial solution: Suspend test bacteria in 1/500 ordinary bouillon medium (105/mL)              
  • Test piece: 5 cm x 5 cm specimen (antibacterial treated and untreated)
    *Tests were conducted on D263Teco white plate glass to confirm the antibacterial effect.
    – Inoculation of bacterial solution: After inoculating the bacterial solution onto the surface of the test piece, cover it with a polyethylene film and adhere tightly.
  • Culture of test piece: Incubate the test piece inoculated with the bacterial solution for 24 hours at 35 ℃ and relative humidity of 90% or higher.
  • Measurement of viable bacteria count: Test piece immediately after inoculation of bacterial solution (unprocessed only) and after 24 hours of culture measure the number of viable bacteria of 3 (n=3)
  • Calculation of antibacterial activity value (R): R = U – A
    U: Logarithms of the number of viable bacteria on the unprocessed test piece after 24 hours
    A: Logarithms of the number of viable bacteria on the antibacterial treated test piece after 24 hours
