March 1, 2023
Tokai Co., Ltd. supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is committed to contributing to the realization of a sustainable society through proactive initiatives.
Our Initiatives
Protecting workers’ rights and creating a safe and secure working environment
Promotion of Health-Oriented Management
- ■We promote initiatives to support the physical and mental well-being of each employee and develop a workplace that respects work–life balance.
- ■We aim to achieve a 100% participation rate in regular health checkups and follow-up examinations, and conduct internal stress checks for all employees.
- ■We foster a comfortable and supportive work environment by encouraging the use of annual paid leave, as well as maternity and childcare leave programs.
Ensuring Sustainable Production and Consumption Patterns
Pursuing and Challenging New Possibilities in Optical Thin Films
- ■As one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of optical thin films, we have continuously focused on advancing quality control and have pursued manufacturing that is not constrained by conventional approaches.
- ■As optical technologies continue to advance, we aim to become a company that delivers our technologies beyond industry and sector boundaries—not only across Japan, but around the world—thereby contributing to and supporting the foundations of global industry.
Minimizing Waste Through Prevention, Recycling, and Reuse
Reduction of Waste Generation
-
■We properly manage and dispose of a wide range of waste, including both industrial and general waste.
We also strive to reduce waste by promoting the long-term use of work tools and office supplies, and by actively engaging in reuse and repurposing initiatives.
Promoting Recycling Initiatives
We actively promote an Eco Cap recycling program within the company to raise awareness and understanding of the initiative among employees. In cooperation with organizations that handle donation processing, we support the “Vaccines for the World’s Children” program.
Corporate and Employee Health-Oriented Management
We conduct regular health checkups and stress assessments for all employees, including temporary and part-time staff, to support both mental and physical well-being. We also actively encourage employee participation in various seminars and support the acquisition of professional certifications. Tokai Co., Ltd. has been certified as a Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization under the KENKO Investment for Health initiative promoted by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, with continuous recognition since 2019 (2022 certification). In addition, we support employee health by partially covering the cost of influenza vaccinations and other preventive healthcare measures.
Employee Engagement and Job Satisfaction
We have set the retirement age at 65. Employees who reach retirement age and wish to continue working are offered the opportunity to remain employed under a contract-based arrangement, allowing them to continue contributing their experience and skills.
Building Facilities
We have replaced the lighting in our offices and factories with energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce electricity consumption.
Sports for Everyone, Anytime and Anywhere
As a company, we actively participate in locally organized sports events, such as marathon races and walking rallies.
Recycling of Miswritten Postcards and Used Stamps
We accept miswritten postcards, unused postcards and stamps, and used stamps left at home.
Through partner organizations, these small and often forgotten items are transformed into support such as vaccines and delivered to children around the world.
Partnership Building Declaration
Tokai Co., Ltd. is committed to establishing new partnerships by working closely with supply chain partners and other stakeholders to achieve mutual growth and sustainable value creation.
To this end, we will place particular emphasis on the following initiatives.
